Buying a puppy

IMO Get a rescue dog or older one. I bought a 2-year old Alsation cross 10-years ago for £40 from a family who were emigrating. With a bit of training (tended to have selective hearing when out and about!) he has turned out to be an awsome dog. Not a nasty bone in his body, great with my 3-year old and not quite right in the head (still chasing his tail at 12?!  ).

As for "Chavvy" dogs, it's a shame that they have a bad name. The owners are to blame. I have known a few Staffys in my time, and always found them to be very friendly and good with kids too.

When "Old Ben" has gone will I get another.....? I can't imagine life without a dog. Would I buy a puppy.....No!



I have a fridge magnet which says "The more people I meet, the more I love my dog". Ne'er a truer word spoken.

Thanks for the responses guys.

This isn't a spur of the moment thing, she was going to buy me a dog (a lil Labrador or what I call Andrex puppy  ) but as I have a cat  she decided against it. She has always wanted a dog aswell so seemed like a good idea.

A rescue dog was the other thing I was looking at as obviously they have been trained to some degree ie potty trained lol, so could be slightly easier.

As guy said a lot of the dogs in RSPCA etc seem to be staffs or similar and I wouldn't want one of them  Nor would she

Looking more at, labs, Dalmatians, sausage dogs    her next door neighbour has a Dalmatian andntheynsre just too big and boyish in my opinion

staffordshire bull terriers are 1 of the most loyal dogs you will get if bought from a good home to begin with would have 1 in a flash around my kids but she bought a boxer instead an he is also great with the kids

I'm sure they are I just don't like the reputation that comes with them 

Don't really like the look of them either lol. Neither does the gf.

The rescue route looks good so far. Think a lil trip over there would b good.

No doubt. Love boxers  . Was looking at getting one before the Ali-cross. A bloke near me had 2 and they were absolutely mental!! You could see their heads bobbing up over the 6-foot fence when you walked past!!

mine would get over the fence if he wanted to  he doesnt like strangers near his garden but
