Mk2 or mk3?

Been offered a mk2 for a decent price, it's a bit rough but nothing a bit of time couldn't sort only thing is I would need to get rid of my mk3..........I havent finished the mk3 yet and have lots of ideas which I'm slowly getting through. If I get the mk2 I will be able to take all my new suspension  bushes, bearings, hubs disc's and coilovers off and fit to the mk2 along with my ats cups. But just can't decide!!!

Iv'e been in this situation a few times and looking back i realise that on many occassion i should have stayed with what i had in the first place and finished it.What i actually did was go through a period of having one "unfinished project" after another and not feeling too good about it.

If you can have the mk2 as well and get it to how you really want it and then transfer then that may be a good way to go but if you ca'nt,ask yourself if you can really see it through and that it wo'nt turn into another unfinished one when you see something else you like.

I'm in this situation now.I saw a 16v going cheap but it needed a lot of work.I sold my 8v to my mate accross the road with the condition that i would take all my modded stuff off the 8v and fit it to the 16v.It's been going on 6 weeks now and every day i look accross the road at my old car and think "why did i bother,should have stuck with what i had".No going back now though !.

I wish my pockets were deep enough for both but there not. I think your right better the devil you know! I have sold cars at this point so many times and lived to regret it.thanks for the advice

if you have the time and money and as said before are able to put up with another project car then I'd go for the mk2  As much as I love the mk3 if I had the option of swapping to a similar mk2 (has to also have a 20vt in it of course  ) I'd do it in a flash

saw a sh!tter of a mk2 in my local scrappy for £250 last month, bodywork looked clean though just a non runner. If I only had a garage to keep it in I'd now be the owner of a 20vt mk2 and be breaking a mk3

Stupid question really...and it's not like anyone reads the mk3 section with the specific intention of taking the pi55..

Feel your pain..I all ways have this prob wonting all the vw cars but not having the cash to have them all, So i go to the stage of getting rid then starting again that them turns out to  be a pain as 6 months down the line i change again my mk3 is staying put lol....Keep the mk3 and finish it how you wont it!! plenty moor mk2 golfs out there for a later date
