Chasing criminals? or abuse of power?

Discuss.

good point. although I am not sure how they can issus a FPN without having identification of the driver?

I have dealt with National Parking services and use them for my own car park so know the ins and outs. Have also recieved tickets from them in the past, phoned them and told them its my car but I wasnt driving. There is nothing to say I have to disclose driver information to them.. and they can only issue the notice against the driver.

... Back on topic, yes they will not only use the information to catch criminals. It will also help them in providing further stats... big companies pay millions of pounds for the stats to help identify their 'customers'. The government will more than likely do the same.. without looking too deep into what you look at

Allowing sale of DVLA data to ar-ebiters like these is an abuse and should be stopped.  Not that you have to pay any fines issued by these clowns.

APNR used by government to enforce laws is just fine in my book.

Its been going on for years... Now they wanna tell you about it..

Are you kidding me.. Do you realise the legal hoops thats involved in tracking and checking someones internet past at present...

Say Terry Taliban lives in this country, they have been following him and caught track of posting some comments on a anti-brit site.. Do you realise they can't just "have a look" at what hes doing.. They have to build a case, apply to the courts for a warrant, then they only have a window of a said agreed timescale to look at his information and then they have to reapply...

I cannot believe that people think the government are sitting there with a big eye watching what we do constantly.. CCTV is a good idea... Theres never been a time when I can see it ever being bad..

This new live feed/access of information is not going to be free reign to find whos looking at thaibrides.. Its to ensure we can correctly track and minimise damage to our country..

Heres one for you.. You have a kid, your kid gets kidnapped and murdered by a paedophile, government have been tracking said person but had to apply to courts for warrant to check his web information after he made a wry comment on a website.. The delay in the courts allowing the check, was the delay that cost your kid to be lifted.. You find out afterwards that they if they had this information they could have possibly stopped it.. You find this out through a press story that says something like... "Police had evidence to stop John Smith but stood back and waited"... How do you think you would feel....

People need to stop thinking they are something special, this system only benefits us...

And you believe that? If they want to find out about you they will. What about GCHQ MI5 and all that sh!t... You saying if there was a suspected terrorist they'd have to apply for a warrant?

I think as soon as you get into "for the greater good mentality" you are onto dangerous ground.

Government should butt out of our lives more and people should remember that the government is supposed to represent the will of the majority. Democracy isn't perfect but it is the best we have at the moment, however instead I feel more and more rights are being trampled on because they believe there are terrorist pedophiles under everyones bed

Have you considered that you're in the minority?

dont like it move country

or stay in this one and stand up for your rights

:afro:  That is the problem, no one stands up for their rights because they worry what people will think and that they will be called paranoid or be told you must be doing something wrong to be worried... No, I just want my private life to be private, I could be the most boring person in the world, I still don't want my privacy invaded.

As usual the minorities will get their way, we in this country sit down and accept too much, minorities speak up while the majority keep their mouths shut, that needs to stop, the majority's need to speak up and tell the minorities to fvck off!

They say it is to protect us from crimes, but those in power break every law going, who is going to protect us from them? who is going to monitor the people who run it? and who is going to monitor them?

Absolute power corrupts!

I am saying that if they want to monitor your internet they have to build up a case and gain a warrant to look at the information.. This does not give them free reign to continue to monitor your online actions, but simply check you out for a set period that the warrant covers...
