Hey guys,
I have a mk2 1.6 driver with pierburgs finest carburation system a wonderous example of overengineering! It is usualy fine at idle when warm but the other day kept wanting to stall at idle. If i didn't apply revs then it splutters, the battery light flashes a bit and then it cuts out. The car drives fine under normal driving conditions. I belive the water pump to be on its way out as i listened to it by putting a long screwdriver to casing and my ear to the handle and it sounded rough. If the water pump were on its way out, or a bearing seized or sumet, would the extra strain of this place enough load on the engine to cause it to stall at idle? Or could it be something else?
Cheers dudes
Acko
