What aerial can i use thats hidden?
« on: 15 March 2012, 07:23 »
So im just wondering now the time has come to be on the road, what aerial i can use as ive smoothed out my wing aerial hole and dont have or want a roof aerial.
Many years ago i used to run an interior aerial that you stick behind your rear view mirror and run a power lead to it as it was amplified.
It was ok but in this case a really dont want something stuck on my windscreen i want it totally hidden.

What do you guys use that have a totally flushed body?
My headlining is going to be out by the end of the week as its going away to be retrimmed and i wondered if i could hide the windscreen type aerial under that and stick it to my actual roof skin?

This is the type im on about.

all aerials need an unobstructed view through the glass i'm afraid
although they will work if hidden close to a window as i have fitted several of those aerials in old splitties and mounted them to the front panel close to the windscreen, reception is hit and miss though

Mine has a standard old school (the chrome type you pull up) which has been mounted on the inner wing under the bonnet and the wire runs straight into the car. Works a treat and cannot be seen

Cheers lads.
Deano can you explain what you mean?Bare in mind i will be smoothing the engine bay slightly so dont want anything in there.

Ive got one of them electric jobbys that go on the screen.but i will be tucking it up front near the sunroof motor and giving it a whirl while the headliner is out.
If it works that will do,if not i will try something else lol

Mine is one of the old style roof or wing mounted aerials that you pull up by hand. The previous owner ran the wire through the bulkhead into the car and the back of the stereo. Then where you mount the aerial normally is just under the scuttle panel area on the passenger side and the aerial part itself then sits under the lip that runs down the inner wing and is completely out of sight but works great for mine. Shame my phone is being fixed or I would take a pic for you Bud
