Sharper brakes ! i still keep thinking i am going to go through the windscreen mine are so sharp but then i was used to a mk4 golf before

 +1 esp when the mrs's is driving...

I'm surprised you let her drive the car with the Monzas on it  :lipsrsealed: lol

WHAT! let her drive with the monza's on "you gotta be kidding me"

I let her have a go when I first picked it up when it had the Seattles....I was constantly kissing the windscreen, I kept telling her to feather the brakes, and all I kept hereing was "I am...I am"

I hope she never reads this thread for your sake lol

  she was sitting next to me when I read your response and I couldn't help but giggle, so she asked what was funny? I told her as she's got a really good sense of humour and chuckled too.....but she did say in her defence that she drive a Toyota aygo and is not used to things responding straight away  as with hers you have to pretty much have the brake pedal pushed quite firmly....

She now wants a polo ever since she saw and drove the GTD!!!

Haha  I think driving an Aygo is a good enough excuse tbh!! The Polos are nice, I must admit I was tempted by a Polo GTI as they're so much cheaper than the Golfs, come with DSG as standard (whether that's a good thing or not, I prefer manual but think how much more ££££ on a Golf) and sometimes I struggle to tell the difference between a Golf and Polo at a quick glance, they are very similar, even in size

as an update on this Snoopy was kind enough to code this onto my car at the weekend and i can confirm under normal driving the difference is very slight but when pressing on the brakes  do feel better

they're still a liability IMO though. had some pretty frightening brake fade yesterday. shouldn't be getting that on the road in a modern hot hatch.

will be trying some new brake pads very soon

What about some decent braided hoses? I have the feeling they will make a very big difference.

Just a thought, could be worth keeping an eye on it especially if the pedal seems to be braking at different biting points ?
I had these problems and on track lost brakes altogether a couple of times, changed fluid a few times, changed pads, no different, I changed the Master cylinder in the end and Voila problem solved.

the brake seems consistent just consistently disappointing. don't think the MC is at fault just the weight of the car overwhelms the brakes

Had a problem where mine didn't stop me at a roundabout, sailed gaily through without stopping, thank goodness nothing was coming.

Took it to the dealer and they said brakes are fine, I beg to differ but I've not had another moment when they don't stop the car fortunately.

Major scary moment

Jesus. How do you have any confidence driving that car now? I bet that's ruining your enjoyment.

were you pressing the right pedal?

i went for a drive out today and ended up going to whitby. going down 'blue bank' i didn't dare brake as i was worried in case i had no brakes by the end of the hill. its a pretty mental hill

i just let the engine breaking sort it.
