OIL????

i oil changed my car the other day, since then iv checked the level n it was over full, if you run the car for a little as a min it read underfilled  so which is the correct reading? cause if i leave the car to stand over an hour its overfull?

is the dipstick holder, and dipstick in correctly

The oil level reading is taken from the sump volume.  When you start the engine, the oil is pumped from the sump around the engine.  Hence the lower oil reading, as the sump volume is reduced.

Oil level volume from cold is what you are after.

Was it chuff that had to stop that woman brimming her car with oil cos she thought you had to be able to fill it up to the oil fill hole?
