shocking discovery

guys i need help bollax to the idle problems the car lumped full turn today had a look and the suspension mount under the bonnet is looking dangerous the top mount is 2 inches from the chassis but when you jack the car up it goes flush is this just been badly fitted or is the car screwed
il update the sig when i get a good photoshoot ;)

The mounts do sit flush when jacked up, and will rise when sitting on ground, perfectly normal.

but the diferent on each side plus the passenger side one looks like it diagonal

ok looks like mine worries are over im guessing the knocking at full lock is them on the way out

Knocking on full lock could be the cv joint.

What needs replacing exactly. Been to the garage with them like that for ages and never had anything mentioned about them, not long had the strut bearing replaced on the drivers side and it was looked at that side and no concerns were made.

It needs the top mount replacing, how a garage can say that is fine is beyond me, they should be replaced in pairs as well.
