I have a suspension kit for sale (original oem) and noticed the other day that when you push down on the shocks, the pole doesn't return to its original position. Just goes to wherever you push or pull it to..

Is this normal?

I think the spring does that for you. The shocks are there to dampen the affect of a bump or lump and the spring returns it back to the original position. I THINK.... :smiley:

I think it is. As on coilies if you wind them down, ie compressing the springs, you get a stiffer ride. Wait for someone to confrim though  :laugh:

I've got a set of second hand Koni shocks waiting to go on and when the shock is compressed it slowly returns to position. They are adjustable which alters the force required to compress them and the speed at which they return. Would be interested to know if this was as it should be.

As said they normally stay where you push then as the spring does the work when fitted to the car  :cool:

Does that mean there is something wrong with mine then? Strange if there is as all four are like that.

Just had another look at them, and they SLOWLY return back to their original position of fully out.

Was just looking at videos on youtube and the ones on there were a lot quicker at returning back to their original position but maybe that is because they were a different setup or for a different car  :undecided:

Oh well, at least they move slowly. Better than not at all  :laugh:

When I fitted my coilovers I swapped over my top mounts as they were nearly new and on the old springs and shocks I had to pull the shafts up manually to put the old top mounts on. I know the shockers were fine as I was running them upto the point I changed them  :wink:
