Places to stay in the big smoke?

My sister is coming over for a visit in April and they've found a place in Tooting (which is pretty far from me, hour and a half by car or almost 3 by Train! Silly moo), other than staying well clear of Sarf East London BRRAAAAP where else could she stay that is close to West London so it's closer to me so we can actually go out and do things without wasting half the day travelling to each other.

I've tried telling them that, but her mother seems insistent on staying in London   her mother also doesn't want to go see Stone Henge because "That's where all those witches were, isn't it?"   Ignorant Religious zealots annoy the hell out of me... and I've got 2 weeks of it

I'm working on getting them to stay closer after having a short stay in London, being from SA travel times aren't an issue for them as everything is 2+ hours away
