Mk4 aerodynamics?
« on: 23 February 2012, 22:43 »
Ok, so I was in the sorry and just generally thinkin about what I wanted to do with te front end of the mk4 (Anni valance/r32 bumper) and the. I suddenly thought about a golf I saw in fast car which ha a r32 front end and was majorly modified (1000hpish) and was geared for 270mph .... Which then made my mind flick to a topic I saw about the golf being restricted on the top end due to air resistance ....... Which theeeen made me wonder of the r32 bumper had any benefits in the drag/downforce area of things.
I know by no means it will magically increase your top end etc but just wondered if there was any extra the. Just the appearance benifits haha

Opinions?

I doubt it will make a noticable difference to any speed gains but it will look nicer

Yeah I know it wouldn't make any noticeable differences but just wondered if it made any at all haha

have you ever seen someone play the imaginary 'worlds smallest violin' for sarcasm??

As if you have, when they rub their fingers together, thats how much gain you'll get lol

Just one of them mind wandering moments haha
I mean would Vw think of such a thing during the design?

Yeah most likely. They piss away a large amount of money in the design process so i would assume they cover aerodynamics at some stage.

Whether there is any gain from a standard bumper over a R32 bumper? Think you might have to ask kindly to a vw designer

Yeah I thought that but I'm sure they just missed out the whole aerodynamics things while designing the mk4

I admit i'm not too fond of how the mk4 looks but if i ever owned one it would have to be a turbo, then i could live with it's looks lol.

Much prefer the mk1,2 and 3 look.

Although i might get a kicking for putting those three mks in a line  :lipsrsealed:
