I'd be tempted by a super-low miles Golf5 GTI in comparison, to be honest, but if you want a coupe, you want a coupe.
I'm put off by limitations of FWD.

Gen 2.

A mapped Gen 2 will be quicker than the Gen 1 with all the mods you are planning.

Plus you have a newer car.

Defianttly the mk2 mate, is quicker an can handle more power, guessin it handles better, looks a lot better and is jut a nicer car

I think the mk2 is a better car all round, the mk1 might be quick but its got a poor image and the handling is pony.
