I was looking at this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TRX-Star-Spline-Hex-42pc-Drive/dp/B000O5X26A/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1330113243&sr=8-3

What ya think?

:undecided:  not too sure really... I'm not a fan of uber cheap tools. buy cheap, buy twice etc.

Right, one of the blokes at work says he's got an 8mm spline bit i can borrow so no need to buy one, happy days!.........BUT

I've been reading on a couple of websites that vw say you can put baby powder on the rubber seals to keep them slippy?? They were a little chalky until i cleaned them which is probably why they creak now apart from the door moving around, do we think baby powder (johnsons) will cause any damage as i doubt thats what was on them from the factory??

Thanks again.

Little update on this for those interested, i got a spline bit and set about adjusting the catches, after many many different positions i finally gave up on that and again started trying to pin point the creak itself, i've now proven that it's actually coming from the felt seals along the top of the doors!! I've put a little bit of AG trim protectant on which IMMEDIATELY stops the noise!!! However, this works for all of 24 hours until it dries out and the noise comes back, with that in mind i'm now on the lookout for a suitable dry lubricant, has anyone used one before and can recommend one?? Something like this maybe??

Thanks again.

Strangely enough in one of the earlier posts i asked about that! i've since tried it on the rubbers which was obviously futile but my god does it make a mess!! i didn't put it on that part though so unless someone else can recommend something different???

Thanks

i use baby powder to change off road tyres and it really makes it a lot easier so it would probably lubricate door seals just as well. only thing would be if it gets wet it would go manky

I always found that either rubbing some baby powder on the seal with your hand works well but also silicone spray works just as good

silicon grease works well on rubber/plastic squeaks etc.  Comes in a spray can.

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.
