Suspension difference question? Picture Inside now
« on: 18 February 2012, 15:14 »
hello boys and girls

can someone tell if MK3 Golf GTI VR6 standard suspension are all the same for a 1.4 1.6 1.8?

Are GTI VR6 standard suspension slightly lowered than a 1.4 1.6 etc or are they all the same height and would a GTI / VR6 suspension fit on a 1.4 straight?

Cheers

The suspension is all the same fitment so you'll be able to put gti/vr6 suspension on a 1.4 or 1.6, however both will be lower than standard.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I think that the VR6 suspension will sit slightly higher at the front than Gti suspension will, due to the Vr springs being designed for the heavier engine.

This...^^^

Fitment is one thing but dampening/spring rates can differ between engine fitment and models.  I'm sure that between say VR6s, TDIs and 1.4s there will be a considerable differences and therefore it is usually recommended that suspension is fitted for the correct model.

Standard mk3 suspension is crap no matter what engine, all the spring rates are different depending on what engine.

Better in the long to save up and get the correct kit, gti is only 15mm lower btw.

It looks nice sat like that but i would sort out the suspension properly, chopped spring = bad idea
