cheers for any advice

I totally agree. I have done this job on various VWs ,not too badder job on the mk2s  but mk3s and Corrados are a right pig and a half when the countersunk Allen bolts/screws get corroded into the pressure regulator and then round out when you try to undo them. F--KING STUPID IDEA !!. Why they didn't use ordinary 13mm bolts like on the mk2s is beyond me!!

The only way I have have found is to VERY carefully drill them out  ( you will probably need a good stock of spare drill bits)

If you cannot get new Allen bolts ,when refitting the regulator, you can use 13mm bolts with 2-3 washers that fit inside the recess as a temporary measure until you can get the right bolts  don't froget to grease them up well for next time (if there is a next time!)

And as for the bushes .Getting them out is the easy bit its getting them back in in the right position which is the sod (there is a special tool for it although the dealership I worked for were too tight to get on so I had to fabricate one myself!)
