Plus the v8/v6 conversions did work really well on them apparently. More homework, been looking at some EU body kits as they are a tad cheaper, but not to sure as to what kit to get.

Yes, Im sure doubling the weight in the back of the car will definately work really well and it will handle like a dream.... NOT. How exactly do you shoehorn a V8 into the back of an MR2? Sounds either incredibly squashed in there (Northstar V8 made for FWD or similar?) or like your gonna have to add some bodgy frame to the back for a full on on longitudinal V8 and transaxle??? As for saving money on the bodywork, WTF! Spend as much money as you can on this and check out their work pre-paint prep before paying anything to anyone lol.

^^^^ Says it all really!

Yeah thats a cheap american kit, I can't find the kit a chap used for his murci project in CKC, but he fitted a M-powered v12.

Well audi v8 4.2 is about 210kg, standard engines about 150kg?

The audi conversion is a popular one, see for yourself found two companies that do it in the UK.

I typed out quite a ranty response to this, but then I hit alt + back arrow, sparing you from most of my disgust.

Just remember, you can roll a turd in glitter, but all you'll have is a turd coated in glitter and sh*t on your hands.

Don't do it.

Ultima: yes and respect.

Something so you can say it's got 'Lamborghini' on the V5.  No.  That's like saying 'my bird's got 32F tits' when it's obviously a terrible boob job.  And we all know how that ended.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Well I got some quotes back as the bodywork is a right pig to do, works out a prebuilt ultima is possibly a tad cheaper which has now got me thinking. If it was a replica of a rarer or more expensive car then it may be more worthwhile. Keep listing more suggestions though.

As well as opinions.

Dont know what the quality is like but they are bloody gorgeous! Stick a heavily breathed on Duratec in there and it would be more fun than you would ever get from a shouty fake supercar.

Looks too hair dresser for me, got the ultima priced up today around 38k fully built  Yet road tax was only £250 a year on a chevy 6.3 v8 which I thought was good and insurance was similar to a 1.8t. Shame its out my price bracket.

Im a fan of kit cars, have built and rebuilt a few. Replicas can work but most look disproportioned as you say. Id reccommend doing lots of research bofore you jump in and spend any money. I wouldn't reccommend a '7' style car as most people find them pretty unusable once they finish building them.

I have been building this shell from scratch for around the last 9 years now, its not a quick project more a labour of love....

Definately not going on an Mr2, it will be sat on an S3 Lotus esprit chassis so it should be quite capable once finished. Heres a link to my build thread if your interested.....
