Home brew cars yes, replica's mmmmmm nah.

Also make sure you do your homework before stumping up the readies.

However if you build one of these, I have dibs on shotgun.

Looked into building one of these myself tbh :nerd:

Yeah I noticed there's loads of scams, especially in the states an the one you pointed out in particular, even the utube videos use other companies hard work.

nom nom at the GTR, well I've got confirmation the audi 4.2 fits, shame it doesn't have many ponies as I like but 340ish bhp should be enough, the noise will make up for it. I wasn't a huge fan of replica's a while back, but I've slowly started to like them over the locusts everyone one seems to build, plus its a head turner, even if its not a real deal. Its like my mk4, when I got it no one had it, then everyone had it, mate got a cupra mk2, no one had it, now everyone and the undercover police have it. With certain kit cars people think they are classics or go "WTF is that", with a replica super car or similar they get excited... but people have different tastes and opinions, I've slowly started to appreciate replica's and fancy a go, sadly it comes with a huge price tag which means I need to be 100% sure I want to go ahead with it before making the decision and not regret it.

Go for it fella, just dont rush any single part of the build and it will reward you in the end.  I've recently been thinking of taking on a Countach Kit, purely for teen dream car purposes.

So maybe your your MR2 derived kit with an Audi lump may well not perform like the real thing, but to be honest apart from a track where CAN you unleash the full potential of a super car???

Good luck if you decide to take it on, plenty pics...

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

That's a v10 with a Turbo? Really expensive engine to her hold off plus fitting it would be hard I know the v8 just fits even with adapters etc, I know someone managed to get a v12 in with a lot of major work.

Only problem I'm facing is a good interior mould I'd also stick Audi clocks in over the outdated stuff.

Contacted DVLA to see what tax bracket it falls into, I know old 4.2 was bracket k at £240 a year, new 4.2 is bracket m at £430. Also once it's done I can put it down as a Lamborghini on the v5.

Also plastic fantastic, how you planning on doing the interior, I've seen a few lambo builds and interiors looked awful, this is the only thing that worries me as I want a better interior than the stock to look somewhat real. I've seen some good places that do the leather trim to dashes and there work is spot on, but how would you go around making the actual dash itself?

The F40 interior is one of the easiest to replicate as it is pretty much a race car interior lots of carbonfibre and not alot else to worry about.

Hatefull, hatefull things! Just take your 20K and buy a proper Lambo or Ferrari (or an NSX as this months Evo suggests ). Sure you wont get much for your money but at least it will be real and will be worth something after you have had it a few years, unlike a kitcar that you build in your garage that have zero providence and is embarrasing to drive. Alternatively, go speak to Ultima as someone has mentioned, they build genuinely capable cars that can be built reasonably affordably if you set realistic goals (and it sounds like you are not going to do that judging from your analysis of the 340BHP the audi engine might get you).

get an ultima, they're nice cars and they're quick! they're built at the back of my house so always hear them on test drives and so on, the owner has a corvette with the reg plate saying something like "chevy", not like i'm stalking or anything

Don't get me wrong I've seen ultima cars, blinding kit, but I want something people recognize, found a nice build thread though:

http://bristolkitcarclub.co.uk/smf2/index.php?topic=1791.45

I'd imagine the chassis should handle quite well, could sell the golf now, get a mr2 and start uprating it, from roll bars to bushes and coilovers, then the chassis should be good enough for the remainder of the work. they are good handling cars especially with the upgrades. Plus the v8/v6 conversions did work really well on them apparently. More homework, been looking at some EU body kits as they are a tad cheaper, but not to sure as to what kit to get.
