I love these old pics... 63 Corvette looking very much the part! this car still has its split rear screen (look carefully) and has its stainless steel "Rocker panels" removed, probably to reduce weight, and give the side pipes some clearance and extra ventilation, and scoops on the front added to cool the brakes, and wheel arches trimmed to clear the Firestone's
Wheels are American Racing Equipment (ARE) Mags... I'd have this car over any Lambo or Ferrari

Well my dream requires a bit of a preamble... so please indulge me.

I've always dreamt of a beautiful, one of a kind country house. Built in a sort of square [ ] design with each bracket representing a building. One of the buildings would be my home. The other would be a private garage with an enclosed wash bay and 4 spaces for my collection of dream cars. Between the buildings would be a small gravel courtyard in which I'd park my daily car - the one I'd nip to the shops in and generally potter about in. So that gives me 5 slots for dream cars. Over the years, I've spent much time deciding on these spaces, although 2 of the cars have been firm space holders almost as long as I can remember.

The first car was only added to my dream garage around a year or so ago when I encountered it driving past me in Glasgow. Up until that point I had only ever seen it parked or in pictures and it didn't do anything for me. But driving amongst traffic, growling and prowling, I knew there and then I wanted one.

The Aston Martin Vanquish.

Similarly, my number 2 slot is also a car that was not added until recently but thanks to Top Gear's review in the Black Mountains, the AMG's "Dawn Callers" have secured a place in my fantasy garage. I've always loved AMG's. They are the proverbial cats amongst the pigeons in the Mercedes lineup. They are quite simply mad and yet they are so, so good. And of the AMG's the Black is the best. It's got the usual AMG perks (sound, performance and Mercedes quality) but it's also special... in a way I can't quite put a finger on. And it looks good. Anywhere.

Parked alongside these two is one of my all time space holders. The 911. For me the 911 is best when pure. No splitters, no turbos, no spoilers. Just beauty.

And last but not least, the GTI - the dream that has become reality and my other all time space holder. For those who say never meet your heroes. I met the GTI. And it has been better than the dream.

And after all that, there is one place left. The GTI takes the place in my courtyard, so there is one spot left for a car in my dream garage.

The last car is the complete opposite to anything I would buy in real life and breaks almost all of my 'perfect car' rules. And yet it is the car that gets me the most excited. It is the car that the mere thought of driving would send a tingle down my spine. It's the car that, if I had only one drive left in my life, I would run to without so much as a glimpse cast towards the others.

The Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-SV

These are my dreams.
