n00b exhaust question
« on: 03 February 2012, 23:56 »
basically I'm new to the vw scene and I've stared off with a 1.4 mk3 because basically its cheap everything, my question is whats the bore on the exhaust? and will a gti system or even backbox fit on? I'm asking this as I'm looking for an aftermarket exhaust but cant see to find any reasonable ones for a 1.4 cheers

easier with a full system as you just need a step/sleeve at the back of the cat......

backbox will cause more issues as it curves near the back axle and any sleeve here makes it point/hang oddly

if you have a powerflow place near you, they are quite reasonable to get one fitted from scratch.

Just FYI, if you plan on changing the exhaust for performance gains then forget it, there is none from a 1.4. If you want to get an exhaust for looks/sound you're better off buying a catback exhaust as boneybradley said, but get a second hand one as it'll be around the £70 or so mark, rather than £200+ from an exhaust specialist to fabricate one for you/sell you one.

just looking for looks and a bit of noise atm only driving a 1.4 due to being low on funds and with it being my first golf I though i would get a cheap one and obvs because I love the way it looks and drives my next car will more than likely be a gti :)
