R32UK is referring to a test conducted by Thorney Motorsport I believe. Thorney are big tuners when it comes to VXR's and the like so have a rough idea about what they are doing.

And yes, their test found that (at the time) Tesco Momentum was the best fuel.

The car they used was an E46 M3 and they found that between normal fuel and Tesco Momentum, the car varied in power by up to 36hp (IIRC).

As for me, I just use Sainsbury's Fuel. I find Nectar is the best fuel by far

Normally use Shell VPower or Tesco momentum.

The odd time I've had to use standard 95 I've noticed a drop in power, smoothness and economy.

Shell Racing (100 RON) if ever you're in the Fatherland

I tend to fill up with whatever super unleaded is cheapest near to me.
I have put the occasional tank of normal unleaded in and it hasn't made the slightest difference to economy or anything else. And this was on an 'optimised' engine setting.

I use Tesco Momentum as 1st Choice, Shell V Power as 2nd  ... I've always been very impressed with Tesco Momentum ... and the exhaust note always sounds better with this  IMHO

It usually comes out better in tests than the others (inc Shell Vpower) and I heard Superchips had a remap setting just for Tesco 99 (now Momentum).   It added + 20bhp over standard 95 RON fuel to an RS Focus in a test below.

I've heard that Tesco Momentum has additives in it to bring it up to the high RON.  I've spoke to a number of people such as REVO and Superchips and they are of the View BP Ultimate is better than Momentum.

Not sure who you spoke to but the general advice from tuning companies (Superchips and REVO) are to go with Shell V Power OR Tesco Momentum (as they are both high 99 RON).

Here's a quote from REVO :-

"This conversion must be used with a minimum of 97 ron Super unleaded fuel - we strongly recommend Shell V Power or Tesco Momentum 98/99 - we can set up to suit 95 ron std unleaded but this will massivly effect the power output and potential reliability"

I spoke to the sales Manager at REVO, and it was him that told me that Momentum is a 95 RON fuel with aditives that brings it up to 98/99. But the downside is the additives breakdown reducing the true RON.

Now, I'm no expert in this field, I use BP Ultimate as the car seems plenty quick, I get double points on my Nectar card and I get double points from my Amex Nectar Credit Card.

Sounds like me with my Shell VPower card and Tesco Clubcard  ... the points certainly add up over the months don't they ?

My local Shell garage is literally 200m away from my house so Vpower is a bit of a no brainer for me when nearly empty.
