So if the cam does go how much ££ are we looking for a replacement/rebuild

An awful lot. From what I understand you will need new timing belt/cam shaft/tappets/followers all sorts. I'd hazard a guess at £500-600 for parts and labour maybe. I think a chap on here had to have it done, maybe Rhyso or Richw...

the 150's are more revvy than 130's due to the different turbo, ecu mapping, injectors and intercooler
the rest of engine is same.

the torque is more spread out across revs so more load for longer maybe a factor.

A good friend of mine has a 150bhp and its only done about 70k its had a new turbo and new cams plus other issues.My father has a 130tdi remapped not sure what its bhp is now, its done 132k and never had any issues car been spot on.Ive got the 115bhp and had a few minor problems but it gets some abuse and never had any big issues and I do alot of milage planning to remap it shortly...

Could be the 130 for me then I wouldn't be much slower then a 150 surly

Cam will cost a around a grand to fix. You can get cheaper kits which will cost £600 fitted

I think I'v read that up to 90 there wouldn't be much difference, but after that the 130 would tail off...

No body knows, some say it is down to the oil, some say a possible dodgy batch of followers. Others down to the the 150 putting out more power.
But its not just the 150's which suffer as Adam said, 130's have been know to as well :lipsrsealed:
