the car will start but im sat there turning it over for like a minute looking like a right dick lol

Well if it is hard to start it could be pump timing out.

yes what could cause this to be out

when he retimed it all up after putting the new pulley and belt on it was fine

lasted like 3 days then back to rely bad starting again

Pulley could be slipping on the pump, I believe they are taper fit so might need looking at or checking the bolt is tight enough.
