I had a Rover SD1 once, Rovers half arsed attempt at a last ditch attempt at making something good like they used to, although the car was doomed, it was actually a great drivers car, well the Twin Plenum Vitesse V8 was anyway...
The whole Rover/Honda deal was a complete joke, and a blot on British engineering landscape... BMW had the right idea, when they took over Rover, and killed it off, but hung on to the Mini brand/name, it was a shrewd move.
The Rover 400/MG/Blah Blah Blah was, and still is nothing more than a mediocre car, If you enjoy that sort of cheap and boring build quality, buy an old Imprezza instead!

Why so the engine can blow up and you can pay 10 times as much to insure it? looked into insuring one for me just now. cheapest was

talking of rovers  :grin: best car i've ever driven was my rover 114 gta 1.4 8v mpi in british racing green, loved the little car after spending a month getting it on the road, biggest regret was selling it  :sad:

Completely with you there, i had a red one, bought it cammed up and the hydro binned. what a fun little car, met with a sticky end though  :embarassed:

Yeah Imperzas are bloody ridiculous to insure!
£19,321 for me on a 2000 turbo.

bought mine completely standard and wanted to keep it that way  :smiley: it got 74.2bhp on rolling road so lost 0.8 on the rollers, sold it on 66k miles, bloody loved it and almost bought it back but unfortunately it was sold by the time i could go collect it  :cry:

This made me laugh, I have got an Impreza Turbo and I pay about £400 fully comp with protected no claims!
