I was always under the impression that plastic parts are painted elsewhere and not on the car, hence the slight colour difference as they are painted with different batches of paint, by different robots etc

they are painted elsewhere on a different production line. i worked in the bumper paint area at nissan for a spell and the plastic/trim paint is a totally separate facility
i think the differing paint finish between plastic/metal is the lack of base coat on plastic trim and the water based paint used by most european marques is very thin.
i must say there is a silver rocco in my street and the bumper to metal difference is horrendous. the silver looks very flat and patchy too.
there is also a new shape silver ibiza though an the quality is way way better
