suggestions for a performance exhaust for mk4 gti

I am new to the vw world, i have a mk4 1.8 gti and it has a stainless steel back box on it at the mo which is quite loud, which in itself is fine but the car keeps wanting to stall all the time, when its not being reved, pls can anyone suggest what i should do or should i replace it?, if so what can i replace it with? thanks in advance

exhaust wont be causing it to stall

run a faultcode reader for faults

also worth throttle bodie clean

also check boost pipes for splits and leaks, could also be a faulty maf

As you're in Cardiff go to ProSpeed - you won't find a better quality exhaust system  :wink:

pro speed are good and milltek seem to be not so good lately quite a few ppl returning them with bad welds etc  :shocked:


 i drive a golf thats why im skint!!!!


losing interest in the golf and now not so skint !!!!!

as suggested try cleaning the throttle body, also coolant temp sensor used to cause stalling at idle when it went on mine.

2003 1.8T GTI 180 - APR Stage I, S2000 Filter, R-Tech Supersize TIP, Bilstein B12 Suspension, 18" OZ Superleggera, Recaro Heated Leathers, US Spec Rear Lights, N249/SAI/PCV Delete

1.8T AUQ - 241bhp & 286 ft-lb

I got a quote of £600 for an exhaust from pro speed!!! But will admit the quality is top.
