will i need spring compressors to install coilovers? my mate said no but i think i will and dont fancy losing a finger...  :grin:

if you have bought all new mounts, fixings etc then maybe not

I'd guess you will, it depends if the struts are pre-assembled.

nah mk4 so the back ones are seperate springs and struts. oh well mymate said hed give us a hand to do it as hes bored and he said he has a pair somewere so if needed we can just look for them/bodge something up :D

I've never used em on coilovers while swapping top mounts and such

If the coilovers are 4 whole units and you dont need any of the spring on the golf thats already on it then you wont need spring compressors asfor you can undo the top mounts then jack the car up releasing any tension. But it if you do need spring compressors and you havent got any then id use a vice  :evil:

only if your taking the standard top mounts off the standard suspension to use on your coilovers. in which case deffinately use spring compressors, i know someone who slipped and fired the spring through one of those enormous industrial wheelie bins  :laugh:
