A vehicle will only fail if the CAT is missing if it is subject to a full CAT test, therefor Diesels are fine!  :evil:

Going forward, my interpretation of this is that it will not be fine.

If a cat/DPF was fitted from new, it's got to be there.

Need to clarify this as to how far back it goes, as I would ideally dump the cat off my 1996 Golf3 TDI, but don't want a PITA come MOT in August.

IIRC it's vehicles from 2005/2006 registrations that will require all components to be where they were when it left the factory.

Including CAT/DPF.

From what I got sent through to work from VOSA it just says a CAT needs to be there for a full cat test which i why i interpreted that a diesel would be ok?

Unless I've missed a different ruling?

MOT price in Greenock is £10 ha ha its great when the local money man trys to close down all the small MOT stations by opening up a mega centre testing 6 cars at once

I read that cars that have modified suspension will now be subject to a failure if they are deemed inadequate? Think a few of us are screwed then...
