if your car has ABS it dosent have a load compensator valve on the rear wheels  as that function is done by the abs

so if you brakeing heavly in low grip conditions  the back end can easly  lock up before the frount end,  with meany people this often leads to a short off road experiance

My black GTi gave me brown trousers when I had some idiot pull out on me in a country lane. Bulb had blown on the ABS.

Anyone who says you can disconnect the bulb and it's just the same as an older car is an idiot.

Where all my moneys went.

ABS only controls the rear bias on about 1995 and newer cars.
The early mk3's had rear bias valves, so an idiot maybe but depends on the year of the car..

I must have been too thorough in the past with my pre MOT checks. Some of these new items listed as a fail i presumed already were.

Here are a few  :embarassed:

Especially this one! Missing, or split/damaged dust covers on steering and suspension ball-joints will result in failure if they will allow dirt to enter the joint.

If a headlamp bulb is not seated correctly the resulting beam pattern will be indistinct and this will result in a test fail.

Damaged or chafed fuel pipes will result in failure.

A catalytic convertor fitted as original equipment but missing will be a reason for failure.

A rear door that cannot be opened from the outside using the relevant control is a new reason for failure.

Doors must be easy to open and close – hinges, catches and pillars will be inspected.

I think the above is fine.
The one that made me laugh was you have to have an illuminated speedo that works.

I had my MOT yesterday. He wanted to fail me on a missing spot lamp, I had to rip the other one out for him to pass it... just because I had one, apparently I needed the other aswell.
