VR6 MAF HOUSING UPGRADE ISSUES
« on: 22 December 2011, 18:33 »
I have recently upgraded my 1.8t agu turbo to a ko4-001 I am getting all the bits ready for a re-map I am a bit stuck with what I actually need for the VR6 MAF Housing, firstly the TIP is there one that fits directly on to turbo and 3" housing or will I need some sort of reducer or could I put a reducer on the MAF housing to existing TIP? Secondly I would like to run a 3" CAI from the right front arch completely away from the engine bay with the hope I don't drive though to bigger puddle, there are loads of kits for standard GTI but I need 3". The Job is not the hardest but will take a bit of customizing just wondering if there would be an easy option.

Exactly what im getting to do bud, i think if you stretch a silicone TIP enough, if will squeeze over MAF housing enough. I dont think the difference is that much, may take some perseverance though.

CAI wise, ive bought a 3'' foam filter, and a 3'' S/Steel pipe with 45degree bend with 160mm legs.

This will put your filter down the right hand side of your battery away from heat and run a pipe from filter down to front bumper to get direct cold air in.

No chance of hydrolock and nice cold air into your turbo.

Where did you buy the 3" Pipe from or did you have it custom made? down at the battery sounds like a good idea, down at the arch is asking for trouble

Using a RAM air foam filter, i bought off here for a tenner. Just remember to not buy an oiled one  :afro:
