BBS RC Centre Caps and my options
« on: 18 December 2011, 21:28 »
Hi guys

As per my previous post, I have just bought a Mk4 Turbo that has genuine BBS RC wheels and had a few Qs which I hope you can help with:

1) where can I get a centre cap removal tool from and how much is it?

2) what size are they?

3) do these centre caps get stolen? I am aware that a full set costs over a £100 and was wondering how widespread theft of these are, as from the looks it off, they simply screw off...is there any way of securing them?  If not, is it possible to remove them and put a centre cap in to cover the hole (obviously this will leave the bolts visible).  What is the consensus on this and what are my options?

Would greatly appreciate any help!

Cheers

1 how does £3.52 sound  You can get one from Jaguar

The Jaguar part number is MXD6160AA, and the BBS part number is 59.23.009

2 not sure

3 They can be stolen and yes they are expensive

You could do this  http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/p/240268/1550905.aspx#1550905

think the centre cap is 78mm

once done up with a spanner there is no chance of getting it of by hand

or you can make your own like I did

I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

Big thank you to everyone who provided great advice!

I will give Jaguar a bell in the morning as am trying to save some funds for an exhaust upgrade and a few other bits...will def get some pics up soon once the weather gets better!!

I had a look at the link that shows fabricating some centre caps (thanks to richw911), but wanted to do something that doesnt involve me dismantling the one's i have...is there a centre cap i can buy that i can fiddle with to cover the centre hole - like the BBS one's in the pics from Steve_PD - how did you do this bud?????

Fully agree that they look best as they are but knowing my luck, some git will nick them and i would rather take them off and only put them on for special occassions

P.S - i think they are the BBS one's as opposed to the VW one's that came on the anni, if that makes any difference...

Cheers
