Broken down! Any ideas what's wrong?
« on: 13 December 2011, 15:40 »
Hi,
So, I was driving along fine then there was a sort of whoosh noise like air dumping. After that the car ran awful (no boost, juddery, rough running) and you could tell it was about to die so pulled over....

The car turns over (slowly) and then starts, you can give it some revs when it's started but runs awful, pops and backfires a little, quite 'juddery' too, after about 10 secs the revs then drop and the car dies!

What do you think could be the issue? Had a quick look over and everything 'seems normal', it's an agu, couldn't be the ignition amp again could it? It at least ran when it went before!

Car electrics power up ok too....

Thanks in advance.... F&:(*ng car!!!!

yea, it ran (badly) with the maf diconnected, as soon as you connect the maf the car would die within seconds.

managed to crawl home anyway, no boost (going too fast made it seem like it's about to die again), pops and farts all over, lumpy idle.....

I hope it is just the maf......

oh, off topic.... if you pm me your address I'll send the headlight indicator parts over..... (still only found one but i'll have another look, failing that you can at least have the one!)

did you see http://wiki.dubworks.co.uk/index.php/MKIV_-_Twindicator_Mod I assume?

yea, ill borrow my bros car when he gets back then go pick up a jack and some tools and get underneath it and have a look.....

whats the connection then with a boost leak, maf plugged in = car dies as opposed to boost leak, maf unplugged = car runs?

it's too cold outside
