I got a year old with 7k on the clock three weeks ago and my missus said she was stuck in sunday run mode yesterday and got 40 mpg over 50 miles on normal roads

Doubt I'll get that when i get home and finally get a shot

3 days to go

On long motorway trips at up to 80mph I get 40mpg. Long-term average according to the trip computer is always around 35mpg. A better blend of performance and economy I cannot imagine! And it doesn't sound like it should be ploughing fields...

Worked out on actual consumption - rather than the all too optimistic trip computer -  I can`t better about 27mpg over a tankful with mixed driving........and it`s not like I have a lead foot

I had a manual Mk5 Gti and I would average (All according to the trip computer) around 36 - 37 mpg at 80 - 85 on the motorway and the best I had going to work around the M25 was 41.8 mpg which I thought was quite impressive.  My DSG R32 is averaging around 31mpg (it's still a baby - only done 400 miles) on my commute but I'm taking it easy at the mo, so still reasonable although when I boot it no doubt it will drink the old juice just like the Gti did!

My 55 plate GTI with 8k on the clock has averaged 35.7mpg for some time with a mixture of carefull commutting through the city and a length of motorway, I drive carefully most of the time, but like to give it some from time to time, what's the point in having a GTI otherwise??!!

I'm worried. I only get between 23.6 and 23.8
