So, we're past October and it has another year of MOT and we've ticked over a whole year of ownership for sure, as I've had to renew the insurance.
Although I've not gone crazy and done much with it I have made a significant improvement to it tonight (despite the hole in the OS sill, which seems intent on being all it can be).
It has been running colder than it should for a few months now, with the gauge reading about 60-65Deg C even after extended running. Not good in this weather.
I have replaced the thermostat. Not with a new one you understand, but with the one out of the 8V engine that was in the Syncro a couple of years ago.
It always feels odd taking a nice, clean, shiny (but blatantly not working right and not genuine) part out and put the slightly skanky looking one from the Syncro's old motor into the housing.
So I experienced those several tense minutes this evening driving back from the workshop, when the gauge went past the 70Deg C mark on the dial. Would it stop at the correct level? It hit 90Deg C and thankfully refused to go any further.
Further on in the journey I did something I've not done in months.
I turned the heater down because it was too hot.
This is a result.
I'm going to have to do something about that hole in the sill though.
