Heavy clutch, is this normal?

will take it out at the weekend. Cant hurt to grease it and costs nothing to do. The best fixes are free ones.

Where should the bite ing pount be. Mine is 1/2 to 3/4 way up. Works fine just wondered if this is the norm.

yea thats fine if it is really high or really low then clutch is either excessively worn or incorreclty adjusted
