Can I borrow a rear beam bush 'tool'..... Anyone?
« on: 30 November 2011, 13:47 »
Hi guys,
Anyone local to London got one of these that they could generously lend me for a few quid?

Or,

Anyone else got one that they could post? I will of course pay postage and some extra £££.

I'm in need of one but dont really want to pay £60 for one that'll i'll rarely (if ever) use (again).

Just so were on the same page, one like this....

http://www.toolbox.co.uk/sealey-vs722-rear-bush-14636-108231?utm_source=GoogleBase&utm_medium=GB&utm_campaign=GoogleBase

Looks like a crap job so would rather have a tool to do it than attempting it without....

Some m10 stud bar, plate washers and a couple of bits of 1" angle iron (or anything similar to use as packing) is all you need to get them in pal.

Ordered some superpro bushes... £80 for them. Hope they aren't too harsh but I'm pleased with my superpro front end.

Oh yea, so the main point being I doubt they would really need a tool as such, I'd imagine a g clamp would do as pressing the metal sleeve in is probably the only remotely difficult part if it's anything like the wishbone ones. The poly bush itself is also two pieces so sounds easy enough.

VERY much doubt your rear axle bush is in two parts.

2 part wishbone ones are a doddle.

Single piece rear ones however, are not..

I tried
 G-clamp
G clamp with bit of 4x4 block to evenly distribute pressure
 Vice
 Vice with above mentioned block

In the end i had to admit defeat and a 10 ton press pushed them straight in.

Mine were however cheap £25 rear bushes.

Just be advised that you may struggle.

"Replaces OEM Part No: 1J0501541C. . The rear axle of your car is obviously a very important part and needs to be attached to the car using precision engineered parts. SuperPro's 20 years of industry leading experience has allowed them to come up with a solution. This bush kit maintains the alignment of the rear axle under the pressures of hard corning giving you a much improved and sharper chassis. This kit includes 4 bushes, 2 tubes and assembly grease. Also includes SuperPro's unrivalled 3 Year/36,000 Mile warranty. These bushes are also available in KIT5133K - front and rear suspension bush kit and KIT5133K-RG - running gear kit."

4 bushes, 2 tubes.... According to the skods forums easy to install.

What 2 part bushes (superpro as stated I used) are there for the wishbones? All mine were one solid piece which was pressed in then the tube pressed in after....!

I don't intend to take the rear beam off, I dot really want to bleed brakes etc.... I have to do the 256mm rears and have everything but was really wanting to tackle that next year.... Losing interest!

Well after seeing how the polybushes sit in the rear axle, i didnt think they could be 2 part. will be interesting to see.

I used pro-flex in the front of mine, £25 for complete wishbone kit. 2 part back bushes, 1 part front.

Looking forward to seeing pics
