I don't know how accurate the VCDS is for timing?
Incidentally, I was on a short country road, so as soon as I hit 60mph, I slowed down - hence why the 1/4 mile time is terrible and there's no 60-90 time either.
Obviously I didn't want to exceed the 60mph speed limit :D

It might be the best thing ever for timing for all I know

I just like to test things.

1. Bring the vehicle to a complete stop with the engine running.
2. Hold the vehicle stationary with light pressure on the brake pedal.
3. Select either "S" or "+/-" modes with the gear selector.
4. Turn off the Traction Control (usually need to hold the TCS button for a second or two)
5. Press firmly on the brake pedal.
6. Fully depress the throttle. (The revs will be limited to 4000rpm if the car is standard. Some tuners can raise the launch rpms with software.)
7. When ready, release the brake pedal and the car will launch.

Yes ,that's more or less how I use it

I turn off the ESP/TCS before selecting S mode,  and firmly press the brake pedal with my LEFT foot the whole time.

After many practices in my R I've found it best to use S mode at 4000rpm for take off (rather than 1st), and floor the throttle as soon as you lift off the brake, otherwise the revs drop a bit too much as the clutch bites.

As far as I was aware the 7 speed DSG boxes don't have LC... perhaps you could confirm Hurdy?

No the 7 speed dry clutch DSG's don't have Launch control

However that may change once the DSG remap comes out!

Don't really need Launch control on mine though as it did this the other day ........on a private drive obviously.

Yep and I repeated it 3 times in each direction and got 5.1's mainly and a few 5.2's, so it is also consistent - from idle revs with traction control off and in sport mode.

Sorry for the thread jack.
