fuel sloshing!
« on: 28 November 2011, 10:34 »
Hi guys,
This is a strange one, but something I've noticed since I got the GTD... every time I brim up the car, I can hear / feel the diesel sloshing around in the tank, only really when moving slowly / breaking in traffic or parking, etc. It's almost like I've got a drum of water in the boot or something

It's not a big deal at all, but I don't remember noticing it in previous (petrol) cars. Anyone else ever notice this?

Yes I've noticed this occasionally but only when I'v stopped not driving or perhaps my radio is on to loud. This has been talked about on other forums.

It's only when mine is full/near full and I think it is fuel sloshing up the filler neck (heard it mentioned on GTIs too)

I've not heard the diesal sloshing about, but when fueling up I find I can't get the fuel filler pipe right in the filler tube of the car.... it seems to be at a slightly lower angle than 'normal' and won't go right in up to the rubber stop and I sometimes feel that diesal will come spilling out!
The other noise I *do* hear is the break pads against the disc's when applying them, they're definatly not worn down to the backplate as the cars only done14k. Weird?

Well when I fill mine up the nozzle goes in the tank neck far enough.

Do any of you use the cap holding facility?

Yeah, I try! My Bora's cap holder worked a treat, the MK VI is a $oddin pain, has to be hexakaly the right way round and twisted correctly to fit.... else it springs off and tries to scratch the paint! Then putting back, it has to be just so, or the rubber strap protrudes past the fuel cover!

I also hear the sloshing on my MK6 Golf AND i also hear the brake noise when applying them, ive heard it from new, my dads convinced something wasnt greased correctly but it dosnt annoy me, my MK6 is nearing 3 years old and a tiny tiny squeal from one of the brakes has developed, only heard when its wet tho
