If your modding it then your insurance will be absurd. Get yourself the cheapest run around you can find for a few years, build up some no claims, gain some experience and then start looking at modifying a better car

Ok it looks like im going to be on steelys for a while. but I did find a polo coupe genisis 1.0 liter for 395 so that maybe good has anyone on here had one.

Get a cheap run around like a micra or KA, build up your NCB for 2/3 years (hopefully) then get something awesome.
I'd rather you write off one of them then a nice VW (even mk3  )
You may feel a bit of a twit, but they do the job and as soon as you hit 20/21 insurance will be dirt cheap for you with some NCB and a bit of experience behind you.
Then you can get something awesome and be able to leave everyone your own age in the dust!

id say a set of ping golf clubs would be the safest for a 17 year old now days because most of them get on the road soon as they have past there test and think they can just go fast and act stupid on the road
