Vr6 clocks rev guage mis-reading
« on: 13 November 2011, 17:28 »
Just picked up a vr6, all good apart from the clocks mis-reading.

Says the car idling at 1100ish but i know this to be untrue - should be around 650rpm

The speedo redlines... goes straight through... stops... but the car still pulling

The guy says the clocks have been changed, Would gti clocks cause this problem as i know they arent made for 6cylinder engines

Thanks, Leigh

My last one was around 650rpm?

And when you did the clock trick thing and it showed you the rpm of the screen it matched?

Either way if the rpm is fine then still revving further than the clocks go

99% sure they are 16v clocks you have

and a cold vr6 will idle at 1100 rpm then drop to 850/900

650rpm is way too low, around 850 is correct.

Sounds like you have 4 cylinder clocks fitted.
