As regards to the maths exam question, if you just said you put 20 + 20 x 0 + 1 in the calculator and showed that in your workings out you would lose marks.

You have to do it properly. Then you will get the same result. Traditional calculators will just automatically "equals" when you hit + - / - etc.

It should be, but as it isn't the rules still apply. Of course adding your own brackets to the equation can give you a different answer.

Yes, i don't remember that rule, as i said its been 20 years  :embarassed:
From a logical point of view, and to be totally clear, it should really have brackets.

but I bet they would however, know that 0 + 1 doesn't in fact, actually equal 0.
