Heeeellloooo chums!

Picked up a Renault Scenic Auto tonight (02 plate 2.0) as my Girlfriends new car, family run around an ting.

Well, on the test drive, lovely, faultless. tonight, terrible the followng issues have arisen....

Gearbox was veeerry slow changing out of 2nd, getting upto nearly 50 before changing up, no matter how i drove it, an before the smart arses come on i've driven Hundreds of cars and know how to drive an auto.

At one point whilst cruising at approx 55 i had to tap the brakes due to someone pulling out further up the road, now i believe the box changed down to 1st or 2nd as it caused the car to skid and epically sh!t me up!

Interior light comes on under heavy acceleration

Engine management light is now on.

As soon as i got home i called the garage i bought it from, theyre no shower of sh!t, local garage, selection of MPV type things and apparently reputable. Now, the previously very nice couldnt do enought to help proprieter changed his tune a bit, telling me its a quirk of the gearbox and the 'Fuzzy Logic' system renault use (EH??) and to see if the engine management light goes out.

So basically, i get a bad feeling this could get messy, i had to hang up on the guy before i exploded.

I want to do this properly first, then if all else fails i'll try my way

So...any hints an tips on how to either get the car working properly or my money back, like photos, keep records, what?

I just want it working because at the end of the day that car carries my Missus an the Little one so cant have an unreliable sh!tter that can lock up randomly!

Cheers

Do not get involved in trying to resolve any of the issues, any 02 plate Renault should be regarded as scrap, lots of faults cant even be fixed by a dealer... get money back, or part exchange for something else.

check the gearbox oil had a problem with a w reg one same sorta problems although eml wasnt on gearbox one was, changed the oil in the box and not been back since. regarding the locking up that does sound worrying. I asume all the lights are working as been known for garages to pull certain bulbs as the scenic also has a gearbox light eml and another engine management light looks like a lightning strike top right corner of the dash. and of course the abs light.
The garage also do have the right to repair the car rather than refund and if can not repair must refund or with mutual agreement offer a replacement but so many modern autos have problems its untrue. In fact so many modern cars have problems as cars are not built to last anymore.
However we have sold loads of manual scenics with out issue just insure had a recent cambelt and waterpump change. oh and if fitted both sunroofs work as its one cartridge and a bi@ch to change
