Nice figures Craig, have a look for a company called Darkside-Development, Ryan and Scott do some amazing stuff for the TDI...

There Jetta BKD 140tdi is now at 301hp and 440lb ft, they do a big turbo conversion which uses the Audi 3.0 tdi turbo get rid of the EGR system use race spec injectors and thats it no head work or bottom end.

Most of the stuff is for the pd engine but I think they'll end up doing stuff for the CR engine once there is more demand for it.

I've also heard that if you go over 210bhp on a 170PS the clutch and gearbox won't stand it.

I always thought it was the torque that killed clutches and gearboxes. The initial loading of the twisting force.

I did not realise that the g/box was made of chocolate on the GTD. Clutch I can accept as this is meant to be the weakest link, but surely the gearbox is not that soft  :undecided:

The gearboxes are very strong but you have to realise that VW make them at a cost and will only build them to spec with big tolerances.

The clutch IS the weak point but if your going to side step the clutch at 4-5k rpm(especially an uprated one) then you can expect a broken gearbox or driveshaft.

I think due to the different gearing it is impossible to put meaningful graphs up or they end up looking like below.
This is a Stage1 GTI vs a Stage1 GTD

BHP

TORQUE

These may be total bullsh** as I have had a few glasses of red

Mk6 GTI 3dr | DSG | Tornado Red | 18" Monza 2 | LED Xenons | RNS510 | Bluetooth | Smoked LED tails | Cruise | Reversing Camera | TPMS | - now sold :(

That's a good visual representation. If these could be married up to in-gear accelaration times for real world driving and not traffic light shoot outs then that would be very informative.

Having >300 torqs available

If you weren't so far away then you'd have it done by now. Been looking for someone with a good reputation to trust up here in Jockland to chat with about fettling it, but so far no joy.
