what you're describing is probably a good 10-20% extra on your heating bills. fine if you're not planning on living there long but worth insulating properly if you are.

Wazzer - are you putting full sized floor joists in that loft?
If not you cant put much weight up there!

yep all been strengthened already

So how is the loft going to get any heat if the floor is insulated? It put me off insulating the floors as well as my old bedroom was unbearable in the summer during the day

I'll add it to the floors if that's how it should be done though, I've got plenty of insulation kicking about

either add an extra radiator or stick some air conditioning up there that does heating and cooling.
