Engine Rebuilt as you can see from the picutures.

£50 more spent on lubes and coolant - battery charged - started FIRST time, idling perfectly!!

I ran it for 30 seconds, then turned it off. ill check all the connections again tomorrow in the daylight.

Nice work dude! That's the way to do, start from scratch and learn by DOING! Worked for me! :)

Thanks bro. Its been amazing fun, probably because I can take my time.

Wife has been tremendously supportive as well.

Next stop - body work

Yep, you can learn so much by getting involved and you see you are capable of building a sweeeet car you never thought you could build!

Having time is the best bit, wish i had that with my car but now new project i have time with and car is a daily sl*t :D

Looking forward to seeing more of this though!

paint work started today.  i wanted to see how the sun bleached bonet would fair up after some heavy polishing, you cant really see how bad it was from the first pics, but it was bad.  after a LOT of elbow grease it came up sweet. (photo to follow)

i attacked the plastic trip and ripped it all off.
i hacked away all the old rust spots, with a screwdriver and some p80 grit sand papertaken as much as i dare off, needs rust treating now - then filling, then all 1 coat of primer - (this is as far as i will go for now untill i have had a ton more practice with the airline sprayer)

tks,

started sanding / reshaping the crashed area of the nearside wheen arch.  i have decided to take another 2 days off this week to get some more "car-time" in.

This project is quickly becoming a passion. most of my conversations are now baised towards obtaining parts etc.  i have a mate who has a 4 channel 100watt amp, he is bringing it in tomorrow for me to look at, he has also advised me against a large bass tube/box, saying 4 "6x9s" (?) are enough, ill go with his say so. ICE is nice, but i am 35

Question: looking at the nearside rear wheel there is scrubbing on the inner part of the tyre face - looking like there is underlying damage cocking the wheel to an adverse camber. In "your opinions" is it more likely to be the stub axle? if this is so , then it will be a reliativley easy fix (i think)

stub axles an easy enough swap, but if it was me i would swap a full rear axle just to be safe
