Anyone looking to buy the tyre  bags should get them direct from VW as they are cheaper than ebay at £25 a set.

They were only £20 for the set about a month ago from VW when I got mine!

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/accessories/alloys/000073900/volkswagen-alloy-wheel-bag?offset=10&previousCategory=all&search=wheel
RRP is £25

Maybe so - but I still have my receipt here for £20!
I never said you didn't  i just quoted the RRP and link to the part with the part number. I never said people could not get them at that price either, But if someone quotes a price and does not specify thats a discounted price people may jump to the conclution they maybe able to get there 'normal' level of discount off that price. Your post read as "no there not £25 there £20 your price is wrong"
I could probably get them at staff rates ie cost+10 but i would not quote that as the price without stating that was a discounted price.

To be honest I genuinely thought they had either posted the wrong price or the price had gone up - as I never asked for any discount.  That's just the price I paid when I collected them.  They're a great piece of kit for £20 or £25 - so I wouldn't have complained if they're charged me £25!  I was actually shocked when I originally asked about them to find out the £20 was for all 4 - and not per bag!!

  I see your confusion.
As a side note it normally lists the list price and sale prices on the reciept before VAT is added. I normally work this out to see what % level of discount i get as it sometimes makes me feel all warm inside

I can't see VW keeping the price this low if they start shifting a few sets quickly

How are the bags lined to protect the faces of the alloys?

My TD 1.2s and Shadows are stacked up with cardboard and bubblewrap protecting them but bags would take up less space.

They aren't.
The nylon material protects the trye and rim, but if the spokes curve outwards like my VW Racing wheels do, then they can be damaged.

Fortunately, if you stack them upright or on a wheel rack, the exposed spokes on one wheel sit inside the back of it's neighbouring wheel, so all is well.

The main advantage is *some* protection with the added bonus of being able to carry them easily, and store any specific bolts in the provided pockets in the wheel bags (handy if you are swapping taper seat to radius seat bolts)

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.
