Question about VW tyre storage bags
« on: 20 October 2011, 08:17 »
I'm after some info on the VW tyre storage bags like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-VOLKSWAGEN-ALLOY-WHEEL-BAG-SET-X4-/300607607450?_trksid=p3286.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D3603580130419021036

Is the back of the wheel bag open like the front or is it enclosed? Reason I ask is that I store my spare alloys on a tyre tree, where the central post of the tree goes through the centre of each wheel and if the bags are enclosed, they would be no good for me (see below)

Yes, the VW ones are open both sides, really just a band of material with a plastic clip either side and some velcro in the middle.

The tyre tree looks like a good job, where did you get it ?

tyre stand looks very similar to:

Guy at my work has this one and rates it, I'm still not sure just how much damage one would do, NOT having a tyre stand.

Thanks for the info chaps. I got the tyre tree middle of last year from the website that I linked to above.

Delivery to the UK was just short of 5 Euro, so about 18 Euro all in. (about £15.65)

I have just had an 'extension' fabricated for mine, as the ability to store 20 wheels/tyres was proving too few!!
Wheel racks = win (if you have the space in your garage)

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

Anyone looking to buy the tyre  bags should get them direct from VW as they are cheaper than ebay at £25 a set.

They were only £20 for the set about a month ago from VW when I got mine!
Might be worth buying 10 sets and sticking them on eBay for a nice easy profit!!
