Temp sender
« on: 26 April 2005, 22:37 »
Yesterday i changed the plastic housing on the front of the head with the hoses leading to it, obviously i had to put the temp sender on to the new one and the other sender (what is that one for?) i can hear a slight leak from around the blue one(that is the temperature one right?) when i squeeze the hose, it's not leaking water but can hear air coming from it, should these be sealed and if so how?

There should a rubber o'ring between the sender and the housing.  The blue sender goes to the ECU and the one underneath (black?) with a red/yellow wire going to it is for the dash gauge.

'O'rings for the temperature senders are available from a VW dealer, I recently bought one, cost about £1.00 each, absolute rip off for a rubber band.
