Exterior Lights Stay On After Locking
« on: 10 October 2011, 20:13 »
Noticed a Mk5 GTI the other night when the guy got out and locked the car his lights stayed on for 20 to 30 secs? My lights come on when I unlock at night but would like if it done the same when locking it. Any ideas how to?

Cheers

Pull the flash lights stalk to keep them on and the switch must be in the (auto position i think).  I would prefer it if I could code it to make it the same as the mk5, I thought I have found it as there is a manual/auto for the lights, just haven't been brave enough to code it to see what it does.

This is called coming/leaving home. On the MK6 you need to flash your high beams once before you open the drivers door, and should remain switched on for the amount of seconds you set it in the MFD after you lock the car.

So you need to flash before u get out the car? Will look as if, hey everyone look over here, my lights stay on after I get out the car! Would rather you could just make them stay on, hopefully someone knows how to via vagcom?

Yes you have to flash before you turn the ignition off, I too would love to have it auto but never been able to find anyone who can help.

You need to set the coding in the BCM as below, for automatic operation.

BIT2 set to 0 means it works like the MK5

BIT0 sets the timer to start from ignition off or door opening

I'm sure you only have to flash before the door is open rather than the ignition off or at least that is how mine is set up.

For the times I forget to flash the lights I just lock then unlock the car and the lights stay on for a period of time.
The doors then automatically lock again after 30 seconds
