i think the 8v's arent that desirable tbh, dont get me wrong they're still strong engines, but after owning an 8v, id never have another one. But to be fair thats a very good deal by the sounds of it.

True they are the lowest spec GTI, people give them to much stick, mines really nippy returns good MPG and its not been ragged about like most 16v and Vr6 cars, plus i wasnt to bothered about the engine as its having a heart transplant next year

Just seen your up the road in bristol so could always meet up for a chat any time if you wanted to   I opted out of a de-cat and have gone for a sports cat with 2" cat back system with no centre box which for me suits me better as its not to loud but gives good performance and a nice sound rather than head doing which a de-cat does! chips off ebay are either ok or are sh!te and i wouldn't get one myself but i havn't heard anything really bad about them so i don't know i'd much more prefer a re-map from say carbon chiptuning. I know enough to get around them so yeah let me know   This 16v i have is currently my 5th mk3 of which i still have 2 8v's im now breaking so any bits you need i may have

I'd have thought the 8v's have been raggged more as the 16v and VR's don't need to be ragged to get anywhere.
80% of your posts are total tripe, as they are mostly replies to sh1te posts created by the morons that, unfortunately this forum attracts.

De-cat and an ebay chip could get you 165ish. Thats what rubjonnys running, his in the a mk2, hence the need of a de-cat!

Lol those ebay chips are resistors in a plastic box, very bad for your engine!

Seems to be working for him. Think they are a lucky dip as what I've people call them!

Brad bought a minter 16v for his conversion think that only cost him £300 mark off gumtree, good bargains do crop up

8v are also cheap to maintain mechanically

Yeah well after i sell my mk4 i should have a tidy amount of cash left over to spend on the mk3. Dont take this in a bad way dragon but i need some headlights as i have the quads on there atm......not my thing! ;). I'd also like the plastic arch's and gti trim as the previous owner has the CL trim on atm. I like the bigger arch look! So if you have any of these things id be very greatful! As i said i should have some cash so plenty of beer tokens will be sent your way.

And yeah +1 on that, my mk4 8v had to be ragged to get anywhere! The 16v just shoots through the gears with a very light foot.

That does look nice but i bet you didnt buy it like that! Think i read your build thread the other day, did you have a repsray?

I did indeed, but as the car stands it cost me £1400 thats including the car (mate owns a body shop), Most 16v and vr6s have been ragged because the power crazy have bought them and think they are jenson button lol, Only thing i will sell this for now is a corrado vr6

You need to get some pictures up
