De-cat and an ebay chip could get you 165ish. Thats what rubjonnys running, his in the a mk2, hence the need of a de-cat!

Lol those ebay chips are resistors in a plastic box, very bad for your engine!

Seems to be working for him. Think they are a lucky dip as what I've people call them!

Ebay chips are bad news, avoid if you can.

I'd have thought the 8v's have been raggged more as the 16v and VR's don't need to be ragged to get anywhere.

Not really the case, 16v needs lots of revs before any power really happens.

Go and check the figures yes a 16v revs higher but is not much quicker than a 8v mk3 (unless your talking about your mk4) in which case yes it is quicker as it is lighter and the 2.0 mk4 is not the best / greatest choice engine wise, it was only badged a GTI here all other markets it was called the highline.

We had a mk4 diesel on the rollers at the Carbon RR day the other weekend that had an eBay £99 re-map special on it.  Added about 30bhp to it with a pretty nice curve and ok power.  To be honest we expected the worst before rolling it.

Still not the best choice, most / all tend to leave the car on the warm up map or dump extra fuel in so in the end they can cause damage.

figures dont mean jack on a 14+ year old car! im pretty sure the 0-60 is quicker in a 16v, then after that the 8v takes over, but thats obvious. this is getting out of hand anyway. to end all of this, my mk3 hasnt been ragged, i can tell. Rant over!

lol id never buy an ebay special part to my engine, its all made by 12 year olds in thailand
